About Us
Read Caravans was founded in 1986 in the small village of Read
near Burnley. There, we traded new Avondale caravans and a small
selection of used caravans until August 1994, when Mark and Denise
Holden bought the company. They set about expanding sales and
the business in general by installing a new shop and offices
within a year. Business showed steady growth and with the introduction
of Bailey Caravans late in 1996, when we found the business had
outgrown the site.
In December 1997 we moved business to our current 3 acre site
at Whitebirk Industrial Estate. The following year saw the completion
of our first purpose built workshops and Service Centre, which
now has grown to an 8 bay Service Centre and a 6 bay Insurance
and Damp Repair Shop, approved by all the UK Manufacturers.
Our Leisure Accessory Shop offers two
floors packed with caravan accessories, calor gas and a separate
Awning showroom to meet customer demands.
In June 2002 we opened our second
site in Leeds (formerly Countrywide) on the A64. This site
is now a Sprite & Avondale Dealership with a selection of new
and used caravans on display. This site is situated in a prime
position on the main road and also hosts its own compact leisure
shop.
With our continued success, we are now a main dealership for
Bailey, Avondale and Sprite caravans. The show ground now offers
a lot of value choice caravans both new and pre-owned, with prices
to suit every pocket. With prices so competitive our choice of
caravans changes each week, making every visit different and
interesting to the novice and the experienced caravanner. With
this commitment to passing savings on to our customers, Read
Caravans is now one of the busiest and most respected caravan
dealers in East Lancashire, and customers keep returning year
after year for our personal service and attention to our customers`
needs.
We believe, because we are a family-run business and have a
hand-picked team of staff, our level of commitment to our customers
is second to none. This gained us the prestigious Caravan Dealer
of the Year 2005 Award for the whole of the North of England
for aftersales and service. Our ultimate aim is to provide a
unique level of service, before, during and after any purchase.
